As our preparation for the entering the league after Christmas continues with another friendly against an organised Bengeo team already competing in the league. We had some strong possession and fantastic commitment from all the Bury Rangers players in only their second proper 'match'.
Captained by Anthony Murphy, who full filled is duty admirably and in terms of commitment and work-rate effort led by example, turning provider with some excellent passing for Dylan Wykes to score two great goals and bagging a excellent goal himself.
With the team rotating each quarter, there were plenty of positives with Cameron Burrows and Aaran Demetriou winning tackles in the midfield, and some great possession holding and tackling by Devon Oakley.
Both Alfie Hemmingway and Jack Taylor played well on the field and also had excellent spells in goal with Alfie pulling of one of the best saves of the match and Jack closing down attackers on several occasions (straight off the training field) to deny goal scoring opportunities for the opposition.
The score line is very harsh given the spirited performance and commitment the boys gave. Perhaps just demonstrating some frailties in terms of defence and marking which we can address. It's a friendly and a pre-season game which has given us valuable insight on what to work on at training as we prepare for more regular league games in January.
Lots of positives and well done everyone.
