We started the game as underdogs against a team in the division above us. Our game plan was to press Garston high up the pitch and try to retain possession in their half. For the first 25 minutes we played as well as we have all season; keeping the ball well and closing down the opposition. Garston, who had three very quick forwards, were restricted and unable to break through us.
However, on 25 minutes they broke through and scored first on the break. We continued to battle well for the rest of the half without creating any clear cut chances.
In the second half we stepped up and began to create more. Grace Wilson had two shots saved by the keeper when through one on one. We looked like the favourites to score at this point but then get caught on the break again on 50 minutes. We didn't lose heart and continued to battle but were unable to get a goal which would have given us a lifeline.
A disappointing result but a great performance. Garston's manager said the final result did not reflect the game and he was very complimentary about our team.
