We sure learnt today that football is a game of two halves and if you let the intensity drop and take your foot off the gas then any team in this league can take advantage.
First half we played what I felt was our best football of the season so far and we deservedly took the lead on 17 minutes through a perfect finish by Alysia Lawrence following a cross from Amelie Powis.
We could off been three goals to the good as both Alysia and Amelie went close and Katie Marshall saw a great free kick effort go just over.
We were pressuring them into mistakes through our work rate all over the park, especially from Amelie, Alysia, Rhianna and Lydia.
Unfortunatley they got a goal back just before the half and second half the game changed and they were first to every ball and it only looked like one team would score so all credit to the opposition for turning things around. Although at no point did our heads drop and we almost got one back from a corner near the end.
We can take a lot of learnings from the second half and need to ensure that all our hard work from a brilliant first half dosent go left unrewarded.
Madison Lang again made some superb saves in the second half to keep us in it but despite some great work from Ella Richardson we couldnt find our way in the final third.
Our player of the match this week is Rhianna Venables. The work rate and battling Rhianna put in was inmense and it was such a shame in the second half that she had to go off injured. Well done Rhianna.
Lets take the super first half performance to our next couple of cup games. GoGo Bury!!!
