Unbeaten in October

Storm Brian stayed away and the sun came out and shone down on us and guided us to an unbeaten October and a run of 3 straight wins.

The game started brightly and we dominated from the start with excellent pressuring of the opposition and our reward came early on when great play by Alysia Lawrence forced their defence into a mistake and Amelie Powis powered home the finish .

We had many more chances in the first half where Alysia, Katie, Erin and Rhianna all went close with some chances hitting the woodwork. On another day should of been 3 or 4 nil up at half time and would of taken the pressure off in the second half.

Second half started as the first half did and we sprang into life, Alysia again with some magical play went close before the calming presence of Lydia picked up the pass through from Alysia and with a great assurance was never going to miss and put us 2-0 up.

The opposition rose to the occasion and came back into the game as we knew they would and shortly after go themselves on the score sheet after a good break away.

But we came straight back with a goal of our own and once again Alysia was the catalyst with her work rate and superb pressuring of the defence and again she went close. The ball was cleared but only as far as Rhianna Venables who shot from distance took a deflection and sent the keeper the wrong way.

There was still plenty of the game to go and the opposition got themselves on the score sheet to make it 2-3 and make things a nervous finish but we settled down after a break in play from an injury to one of their players and saw the game out.

Player of the match was our Goal Keeper Madison Lang who made some brave decisions throughout the game to make clearances and along with Katie continue to give our back line such confidence. Special mentions also to Alysia, Rhianna and Amelie who never stopped working hard for the team with their continued pressing and forcing the opposition players into mistakes.

Well done to all girls as it makes a team to get these results and contributions matter all over the pitch.
