Forget the scoreline on this one, we may have lost but the girls depleted in numbers gave everything they had and did everything we had spoken about in training and prior to the game and as a Manager I can have no regrets.
The girls all worked really hard from the first whistle and could of gone ahead themselves through great work from Bella Davies, Ella Richardson and Alysia Lawrence. Hitchin had barely got in our half when they managed to get a corner and from the rebound one of their players scored with an amazing strike which was tipped on to the crossbar by Madison Lang but landed the wrong side of the goal, one could only applaud the goal.
Second half we came out the traps hungry to set the record straight and soon got a just rewards from pressing from the front and Rhianna Venables slotting Cooley and Calmly into the back of the net. We had further chances through Ella Richardson who was busy on the wing all game, Alysia Lawrence and Erin Stuart-Obrien and on another day those chances would of been taken.
A quick break by Hitchin caught us out as we began to tire half way through the second half but we picked ourselves up and had more chances to get back level, even with the last kick of the game Lily-May Patmore went extremely close and so nearly capped off a brilliant second half display by getting on the score sheet.
Another day and we could and should of won this game, all credit to Hitchin who were good opponents and made us pay when it counted most. The girls can take a lot of heart from this game and I thought the structure and our back 3 and Goal Keeper play extremely well as a unit. Keep playing like today and the wins well happen.
Player of the Match as voted by the opposition was - Madison Lang, Well done!
