Playing a team from Division 2

Today was all about a learning experience against a stronger team from the division above in a friendly environment which allowed us to trial a people in some different roles with a slightly different formation to the way we have been playing.

The scoreline doesn't reflect how well the girls played at times during the game and if we were looking to win the game if it was based on possession then I think we had more of it than they did. What the opposition did well was playing on the counter in a very swift and strong manner with powerful runners all over their front 4-5 players and we can learn from them on this aspect of the game.

That said we fashioned chances of our own especially in the second half with Lilly-Grace Russell, Amelie Powis and Alysia Lawrence all having chances to score and unlucky to not do so as well. Well done girls, this new formation as a front three you were playing was confusing at first but once you worked it out it look strong and dynamic.

Ella Richardson put in a sterling performance in midfield often helping out her defenders and breaking to support the attack. Well done Ella.

Another performance to note was Madison Lang in goal, again commanding her box and making brave decisions is becoming the norm, but there was one moment where she was heading in one direction and then a world class save made by her feet in the other direction was great goal keeping to keep out their striker and draw high praise from the opposition coach.

Well done to Lilly-Grace who made her debut today, such a shame she cannot be involved in our leagues games at the moment as she brought composure, power and pace to the forward line and as mentioned was unlucky not to be on the score sheet.

However it was Ella-May Ince who wins our player of the match today, first playing at right back and then playing at centre half with some very good clearance when needed, calmly playing her way out of trouble to feet on other occasion and coming across confidently to cover either the right side or left side too.

Well done to all the girls, the result doesn't matter, there was a lot of good play and a lot of things we have learnt as well together today. GO!GO! BURY!
