This weekend saw the Bury Reds face by far and away their toughest opposition yet. The home team (boosting a selection of academy level players it transpired afterwards) were fast out the blocks and from then on it was an up-hill struggle. Fair play to the team, they kept going despite a first quarter we wrote off. This was also in the rain and what felt like our first 'winter' game. The power play rule was used (7v5) exactly as it intended and for the next three quarters we were able to at least get into the game bit, getting stronger (and more resilient ) as the game went on.
It was great to get a consolation goal scored by Oliver Morris with a couple of other players coming close in the final stages. It was also great to welcome Tanus van Molendorff into the team/matches, who stepped in to the team and battled well in a team he's only starting to get familiar with.
Graham has said that's the last time I manager his team! The Reds will bounce back in two weeks time. All credit to all the team, they didn't give up and didn't stop trying or let the score or the weather get them down. Proud as always.
