THE MCCRORY TOURNAMENT

Under 18s Tournament Report

A Charity Fundraiser for Leigh Ramblers player Rosie who was left paralysed from a footballing injury saw the girls travel to Ilford Power Leagues.

Fielding collectively the youngest two sides in the tournament the girls handled the occasion well and took things in their stride. They all competed on a physical level with senior ladies and should be proud of themselves. Daisy was fantastic in goal throughout for both sides backed up well by Lucy and Lily when games clashed. Referees from both pitches and opposition made great positive comments about how good our players were which was nice to hear.

The Tigers topped their group and the Lions finished second although it became apparent half way through that only the group winners would go through. There were some great moments of skill from both teams and some super goals.

The Tigers played Ipswich Ladies in their quarter final and had the best of the efforts in normal time but unfortunately it went to pens and Ipswich went through after their keeper made a fine save. Ipswich were the eventual runners up losing the Southend Women in the final.
