Welwyn Pegasus v Bury U8 Greens

By

'Defend for your life'

On a windy, but thankfully dry and warmer day over in Welwyn Garden City, the Greens put on a great team display.

Well lead by Captain Teddy Thompson, the Green set out to frustrate and break down the opposition with some great defence. The message was for the midfield to support the lone defender and play counter attack should the chance arise. It dully did the first quarter where Zach Knight got a great opening goal. Teddy Thompson held the defensive line and organised his players. Some great saves from Alex Prior also kept the Opposition strikers at bay.

Over the next two quarters we dug in, only conceding two goals. Some great goal keeping from Liam Scott and Max Finlay and the defenders stood firm in their position. With the midfield and especially Harrison Coker doing their part to keep the score line respectable.

Quarter four saw us snatch the equaliser, some good build up and a poaches goal from Liam Scott saw the teams level. From then on it looked like we might have snatched it with Teddy Thompson and Alex Prior all coming close.

A draw was a great result, against a good Opposition with some good (Dangerous) players and in tricky (windy) conditions with the players all sticking to their tasks and getting the draw they deserved at least.

Well done and we do it all again next week for the reverse fixture against the same team.

Thanks also to Annagret for supporting me and keeping time for changes.

Have a great weekend, Martin
