An emphatic win in testing conditions

By

When the going gets tough, the Greens get going!

This morning saw the Greens battling in truly character-building conditions against a sporting Wheathampstead side. Despite the damp start and threat of heavy rain hanging over us, the Greens quickly got into gear. The first half saw an early goal from Harry and some great runs from Henry, Miles and Leo, with solid tackling and well aimed passing from Freddy and Alex making a solid foundation to the play. The weather worsened as promised and conditions got tougher from the second quarter but the lads battled to bravely to end the first half one nil up, managing to escape the danger of a free kick just outside the Bury area.

The second half saw a busy 3rd quarter with two goals apiece for Leo and Harry assisted by Henry's strength in both midfield positions. there was brave 'keeping in slippery conditions for Miles and Leo as the hosts put on their extra man to bolster their firepower, pulling two back in the final quarter. Freddy and Alex really came to life in the latter part of the game and never stopped challenging as the hosts got into gear.

All in all a great sporting game, and great to see the team continuing to gel and grow in confidence. We were tested by the conditions today and showed our stuff. Well done lads - hope you have thawed out by now and hope to see as many of you as can make at the Christmas Party tomorrow.

Paul and Andy
