A good practice match for the team

Thank you to all the parents for bringing the players today for what was another good practice match. With only 5 players the boys did very well to keep up their running all through the game and especially when we dropped down to 4 players with a head injury to our goalscorer Miles.

The score line didn't reflect the closeness of the game with Hertford Heath just that bit more clinical in the opposition half. I was really proud of the players today and impressed with their passing and calling for the ball. Liam put in a captains performance, running all over the pitch, calling for the ball, helping his team mates along with some impressive saves in the second quarter and was only denied a goal at the end by the referees whistle.

Harry also pulled out two great saves during his stint in goal and really impressed with his non stop involvement and running and looking to push into the opposition half. Kieran did well always looking to pass to a teammate whenever he got the ball and was able to enjoy a quieter last quarter in goal as his teammates in front of him did a good job keeping the opposition pushed further back.

Max had a great game diving into tackles and pushing forward when in midfield and up front. He had good positional play when in defence and was conscious not to push too far forward. I last count of how many times he put his body in front of a Hertford Heath attack.

Our goalscorer Miles started off the first quarter in goal making full use of his area and coming out to intercept the ball well. He made some really good passes from goal kicks to our team. Moving into midfield, defence and attack in later quarters Miles did well constantly wanting the ball and looking to pass to his teammates when in possession. He showed great determination winning the ball back a number of times and none more so with his goal when running from his own half all the way to the opposing goalie and sliding in to score our goal.
