This morning saw a depleted Stripes squad of 5 show some really determined grit in the face of an organised Bengeo side. The game was a reunion for Stripes stalwarts Freddy, Dominic, Miles and Alex who welcomed Henry into the fold.
The first quarter saw some strong runs from the opposition and a goal that top flight keepers would have struggled to stop. Undeterred, Miles made some good saves to keep another couple of challenges out. The second quarter was more balanced as the Stripes got into gear and Henry and Dom pushed up to worry the Bengeo defence but we just didn’t manage to finish. In quarter 3, bolstered by Nicholas, on free transfer from the Tigers, Dom landed Bury’s only goal of the game and in the final quarter the team really came alive, pressing and pressing and really deserving a goal but not quite managing to find the net. A great save from Alex under sustained pressure limited the scoreline.
Some great moments as the Stripes got back into gear after the summer break, and really good efforts from all, particularly Dom and Miles who gave 110%. Well done lads!
