This morning saw a truly tough game under incredibly testing weather conditions and the Stripes did not disappoint, displaying effort, determination and character until the very end.
The first quarter saw the stripes totally overpowered by a more experienced Crusaders side. But the lads' heads never once went down, and after regrouping at the first break we saw the team come out determined to put up as much resistance as possible. Even as the scoreline grew, not once did the Stripes' resolve falter. Dominic, not fully match-fit, put in a number of brave tackles during his spell in defence and, as his confidence grew during the game, took some useful runs forward in the second half. There was great defending by Harrison and Alex, staying with the attacking players and closing down their options. Both Max and Miles were fearless in putting themselves in front of some really hard shots at close range to limit the damage, and Harry played well both in goal and as a stalwart in midfield.
Despite the scoreline, the team gave their best and managed to keep smiling throughout a bitterly cold and wet contest. Well done stripes - we are proud of you.
