Away in the Rain
In a complete down pour the u13s took the trip away to second placed St Albans North in the League.
The firsf half saw both teams trade attacks but equally some great goal keeping from Madison Lang and Defending by Ella Richardson and those that joined her in the back three kept things level.
Equally fine defending and goal keeping from the home side stopped us from getting on the score sheet from some good efforts from Alysia Lawrence (who had the beating of her player all day long) Katie Marshall playing up front first half Faye Cargill and Erin Kavanagh.
Half time finish as a stalemate at 0 vs 0 but very entertaining game.
We sprung to life second half with some fine play between Madison (now on pitch) Alysia providing the assist for Faye to slot home with only 2 minute gone.
A great job was then done to keep the score at one nil by our defence with Ella commanding her area, positve play from Katie (now in goal), Georgie, Sophie, Ava and Erin who were all playing well.
Maisy was proving dangerous down the left hand side and combined well with Madison to then see her effort some how saved by an amazing save.
Further brilliant play by Faye, Lucy and Alysia with lovely passing between them...... then went out wide to Maisy to square the ball for Madison to have a fine strike from distance into the top of the net to make things 2-0 with about 10 minute to go.
We than saw attack after attack from St Albans who were not letting up on testing our back line and whilst the goal was really unlucky getting held up in a big puddle which had formed near the penatly stop the home side took their goal well to make things tight heading into the final minutes of the game.
However our defence held firm with Ella making tackle after tackle and Alysia, Erin and Madison tracking back to help her and sophie/ava in defence and got us back up the pitch to stop the danger.
Final score deserved at 2 vs 1
Our player of the match was Ella Richardson whose performance at central defence was strong and commanding all day. Alot of praise comming from the watching parents as well.
Well done to all today..... everyone deserves a big pat on the back for their performances. Contribution from all in what was a true team performance.
