U13s get league campaign off with a win
Our first home game in the league of the season saw us play Bedwell Rangers Stars who were unknown to us before today.
The game burst into life on 8 minutes with some lovely play by Ella Richardson and Faye Cargill before release Alysia Lawrence away who beat two players with super skill and a superb finish to set us on our way.
Similiar situation again for the second goal and how dangerous Alysia was all game picking players off with ease. Sometimes mixing a run taking a player on our putting a dangerous ball through. Certainly we are seeing the benifits of giving her a more free rain and space to try her magic. Well done.
We then saw Ava Meekcoms and Sophie Christer score there first goals for the club with two very calm finishers and their confidence just grew because of it. Super to see.
Just before the half time Faye who had been pulling the string from midfield with Ella all game and had gone close on occasion got her just rewards for all her skill and industry and to score on her debut as for us as well. Very well done.
After the break we really mixed it up with Ella going in goal and Madison and Katie taking turns playing up from. On 40 minutes Madison bull dozed her way through and scored with a low drive into the net to get on the score sheet once more.
In between we had many shots at goals and apart from an inspired goal keeping peformance by Bedwells goalie could of been another 3 ot 4 more with Madison hitting the post, Alysia powerful shot against the bar and Lilly-Grace Russell and Lydia George forcing a save from the goalie as well
6 minutes before time and a goal of the game moment saw Katie Marshall turn her player and on the half volley power a short into the goal from the edge of the box. Well done.
Our players of the match were Ava Meekcoms and Faye Cargill but everyone should be proud of their performance especially our other newbies Lucy and Brooke and probably her best display for us Sophie.
Well done to everyone and to our opposition who never let their heads drop and kept going until the end.
