Sixth form students from Sele School raise over £1,000 for Bury Rangers All Inclusive team

A group of sixth form students from Sele School have made the finals of a regional competition, organised by Community Voluntary Services (CVS) for Broxbourne & East Herts, aimed at raising money for local charities and good causes.

The students, named ‘Team Inferno,’ were among 100 other budding entrepreneurs from the area who took part in the challenge, organising various charity events in a 12 week period from October 2017, including selling produce from a stand at Ware’s Dickensian Evening, along with organising a Halloween Disco and successful quiz night at Sele School.

The students have been mentored along the way by Richard Morris, Founder and CEO of online fundraising platform TheGivingMachine.

Team Inferno will now attend an awards ceremony with five other teams presenting to a panel of local ‘Super Dragons’ including Louise Prior, Business Manager Barclays Bank, Jeff Stack, Chief executive, Broxbourne Council, Andy Lopaka, International Speaker and Business Author and Jan Wing, Chairperson, CVS for Broxbourne & East Herts.

Discussing the challenge, Richard Morris said: “I’ve been really impressed by the organisational skills and business acumen of Team Inferno. From organising various events inside and outside of school, to creating an online fundraising page on fundsurfer.com, they’ve shown real teamwork, determination and ambition.”

The awards ceremony will be held on 5th March at The Spotlight, High Street, Hoddesdon.
