Bury Rangers All Inclusive group chosen as participants in Broxbourne & East Herts Dragons’ Den school initiative

Bury Rangers All Inclusive group have been chosen as beneficiaries of an initiative that matches schools in the Broxbourne and East Herts area with local business partners in a bid to raise money for local charity and community groups.

Based on the TV shows Dragons Den and The Apprentice, The Dragon’s Apprentice Challenge will bring together 100 ambitious sixth form students (apprentices), each divided into 13 teams and given a business mentor (the dragon) with the challenge of taking an initial £100 as start-up and raising as much money as possible for their charity or community group over a four-month period.

Last year a staggering £12,000 was raised, with the Overall Winners of the competition, The Sele School, presenting £1,105 to the Headway Hertfordshire.

During the launch on Monday, October 2nd, Bury Rangers All Inclusive group were drawn with The Sele School team one (Team Inferno) along with business partner Richard Morris, Founder and CEO of award-wining charity, TheGivingMachine. All money raised by team Inferno will go directly towards much-needed new footballing kit and accessories for the All Inclusive group.

Attending the launch, All Inclusive coach, Keith Miller, said: “It’s great being paired with students from Sele School Hertford being Hertford based ourselves. I was very impressed with the young people that I met and I’m sure they will do us proud.

“Aside from the competition, promotion of the All Inclusive group across the local area so that people know about us and the services that we offer is just as important. Children and young adults with disabilities are welcome to join us and it’s completely free to attend.

“We’ve also invited the students from Team Inferno down to the training sessions on Saturday mornings at Wodson Park to help as volunteers, the kids will love that.”

Discussing the challenge, business mentor and Dragon Richard Morris said: “I was immediately impressed with the organisational skills of Team Inferno, who had great ideas straight away in terms of generating revenue for Bury Rangers All Inclusive group.

“Bringing disabled children and young adults together through sport benefits everyone, from the players and coaches to the volunteers that help each week. I’m really excited to be part of the challenge and working towards raising awareness of Bury Rangers All Inclusive group, and making a few pounds along the way!”

“I am very proud and privileged to be representing The Sele School Year 12 students,” said Ms Roa Dillon, Head of IT & Business Faculty. “I have taught them since they were in Year 8 and have watched them grow into fantastic individuals.

“Team Inferno includes; Gemma Caruana, Ben Borlase, Kyle Blackaby, Amy Skidmore, Jacob Collins, George Ellis, George Neate, Samuel Baudrey. They are so enthusiastic about their charity and working with the Bury Rangers All Inclusive FC and TheGivingMachine. They have already organised several charity events including; KS3 Halloween Disco, Wear Your Trainers To School Day, and a Staff & Parents Quiz Night. I am looking forward to seeing how their business grows.”
